Bulletin 16.09.2022

16th September 2022

This week's bulletin is available here

Dear Parents and Carers

School will be closed on Monday 19 September for observance of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll’s state funeral.  Monday’s after-school lessons have been rescheduled for later in the week; we will operate as normal from Tuesday.

Punctuality

We have continued our drive on punctuality at the start of the school year.  A large number of pupils have served lunchtime detentions for late arrival at school or to lessons, and punctuality has improved very significantly, leading to smoother starts to lesson - and now, far fewer sanctions.  We will work to maintain this and are grateful for your support in ensuring your children are at school in time to be registered at 8.35am.

Year 7 Information Evening

We’re looking forward to meeting our new intake parents and carers on Thursday evening at 6.30pm, for our information evening.  This is an opportunity to learn about some important aspects of our curriculum, and to meet your child’s tutor.  Please note that Year 7 pupils should not attend this meeting.

Building Work

Building of our extended facilities and sixth form centre will start on site next Tuesday.  Construction will take place sequentially all around the school and is scheduled to take 83 weeks to complete.  We will face a period of considerable disruption as the work progresses, however, it’s helpful that construction traffic will enter the site from the west and will not use the main school entrance.  The completed building will take our roll to 1650 pupils across Years 7 – 11 by 2028, achieved by admitting a larger intake into Year 7 over the next five years.  The sixth form will admit 350 pupils. The first phase of building should be handed over by September 2023, with the entire project completed by April 2024.

Performance Hall

We are inching closer to having a fully equipped theatre on site and next week, an electrical team will be working in the hall. Weather permitting, we will arrange for Years 7 and 8 to eat their lunches on tables outside, after serving, to enable the electricians to work as effectively as possible.

I wish you all the best weekend possible.

Your sincerely

Claire Coates
