Bulletin 21.04.2023

21st April 2023

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the summer term of 2023!  I hope you all enjoyed a good Easter break.  There is lots on offer for your children over this term, despite an unusually broken first six weeks due to the bank holidays and planned teacher strike action.  The body of this bulletin also contains many offers of support for parents from various agencies, and many external opportunities for your children – please do take the time to look through this.

External Exams

This week, individual GCSE speaking exams for Modern Foreign Languages have got off to a good start, with Year 11 now intensely focused (we hope!) on the main exams which start in earnest from 15 May.  If any pupil needs extra support at this time, please don’t hesitate to contact the Year Team who will do their best to help.

Teacher Strike Action

Unless the situation changes, school will be closed for pupils in Years 7,8, 9 and 10 on Thursday 27 April and Tuesday 2 May.

Strike Day Arrangements for Year 11

Thursday 27 May:  We will operate a staggered start time to accommodate teacher absence, with all pupils expected to stay until 3pm.  Lesson start times are below:

9.00: Mrs Gale 11-SC-Al; Dr Pagomenos 11-PHY-Ag; Mr Beaumont 11-SC-Cu.

11.00:  all other classes.

Tuesday 2 May

All Year 11 will attend for lessons 1-4. They will have their normal lessons for Periods 1 and 2, with the Period 5 and 6 lessons they would usually have in the afternoon, being taught in the morning.  Some pupils may also be required to stay for the afternoon.

Wishing you all a very good weekend,

Claire Coates
