Changes to Arrangements this Week, from Tuesday 15 December

14th December 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

As from tomorrow, the following arrangements will be in place. All previous information on daily closures no longer applies.

Year 7: Attend as normal on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with normal start and finish times. Finish at 1.30pm on Friday.

Year 8: Already working from home all week.

Year 9: Attend as normal on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with normal start and finish times. Finish at 1.30pm on Friday.

Year 10: Working from home all week unless informed otherwise.

Year 11: Working from home all week unless informed otherwise.

This decision has been taken because today we have been advised that further children at school have tested positive for Covid-19. Having undertaken a thorough contact-tracing exercise, we identified a significant number of contacts within Years 10 and 11 and these pupils have been advised to self-isolate. After liaison with the Local Authority Covid Advisory Team, we have taken the further precaution of closing Years 10 and 11 until the end of term; this means that all pupils in Years 8, 10 and 11 will learn from home, with work set by their teachers, for the rest of term. The information on remote learning is contained in the messages sent separately to the closed year groups.

Having observed these measures, school can remain open and pupils in Years 7 and 9 should continue to attend as normal if they remain well. School staff will be in contact with parents of some pupils to offer support as necessary; this will apply to some children with special educational needs or those who are otherwise vulnerable. These children may be invited to attend school to carry out their remote learning with support.

If your child has free school meals and would like to pick up a packed lunch tomorrow, please inform us by emailing: thecollege@cambournevc.org. Lunches will be available for collection from Reception between 12 and 12.30pm.

We are sharing the information about positive cases of Covid-19 in school in order to dispel unhelpful rumours and to give parents and carers confidence that they are being kept fully informed. Please continue to monitor your family closely for any signs or symptoms of the virus and take action according to the attached guidance. Please keep the school fully informed of any possible case in your household and of your family’s isolation status, to help us keep abreast of any emerging issues.

I'm sorry that this information is late in reaching you today. Thank you for your understanding in these complicated times!

Your sincerely

Claire Coates

Principal
