January 2022 - Covid-19 Testing for Pupils

Asymptomatic testing at the start of the new term

You may recall that upon our return to school in September we sought your consent to carry out onsite asymptomatic testing of your child. We are required under the new government guidance to test all returning pupils in January. Pupils with consent (gained from consent given in March 2021 or September 2021) will be tested in-school with one lateral flow test and this will take place over Wednesday 5^th January or Thursday 6^th January. The schedule for this is covered below. For Year7/8/9 pupils, please don’t send your child in to be tested if they have tested positive in the previous 90 days or if you don’t wish them to be tested/ haven’t given consent.

Testing over the holidays

We have been informed that the twice weekly home testing will continue to be a requirement for pupils and staff over the Christmas period. Pupils will be provided with sufficient resources to enable this. Please do continue to upload results to TestRegister, to ensure appropriate staff are notified of any positive cases amongst pupils. Pupils who have had Covid within the 90 days before the 5th of January will not be tested.

Consent for Testing

For all but a few pupils, we already have your consent on file (from the September 21 and March 21 testing), and we propose to carry your consent over to the January 2022 testing unless we hear from you otherwise.  To give consent for your child to have a lateral flow test on site, please complete the following if you haven’t previously:

If you do not give consent for your child to test, please send your child into school on the date indicated as ‘first day in school’. Pupils will be called to the test centre where consent will be checked – please ask them to also indicate that consent isn’t given.

Results of the Testing /Uploading of Results

Your child will be given a card with their unique information.  Please follow the instructions on the card to upload your results. Please assume your child is negative, unless you hear from us.

Arrive at the following times (you do not need to wear uniform): C – 10.00 A – 10.15 M – 11.00 B – 11.15 O – 11.30 U – 11.45 R - 12.00 N – 12.15 E – 12.30 Friday 7th January   9 Wednesday 5th January or Thursday 6th January depending on the form group: Test and return home. Arrive at the following times (you do not need to wear uniform): Wednesday 5th January: C - 14.15 A - 14.30 M - 14.45 B - 15.00 O - 15.15 U - 15.30 Thursday 6th January: R - 9.00 N - 9.15 E - 9.30 V - 9.45 Friday 7th January   10 Wednesday 5th January: Arrive to school at the normal time. In-school testing will happen at the following times. Pupils will leave their lesson and then return to their lesson. (You need to wear uniform): C – 11.30 A - 11.45 M - 12.00 B - 12.15 O – 12.30 U – 13.30 R – 13.45 N – 14.00 Wednesday 5th January 11 Wednesday 5th January: Arrive to school at the normal time.
