Parent Bulletin: 13.11.2020

13th November 2020

This week's parent bulletin is available here

Dear Parents and Carers

Year 10 Home Learning

Many thanks to Year 10 parents for supporting the arrangements for home-working this week and next. Staff have been providing high-quality remote lessons to cover this period, and of course we’re looking forward to having Year 10 back as quickly as possible.

National Covid Restrictions

Please would all parents note that children should be indoors except when travelling directly to and from school. Outdoor exercise is allowed alone or with one other person. We’ve received a number of complaints about groups of young people continuing to meet around the town and visiting shops to buy non-essential items; the Police have informed us that they are running extra patrols.

The guidance can be found here:

You may also like to see the updated information about schools published this week by the Government: what they need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Extra-Curricular Sports Clubs

Some good news: it seems the Government did not mean to cancel after-school sports clubs for this lockdown period. Information about resuming these activities from Monday 23 November will be published next week. We’re trying to find out if we can resume other clubs as well.

Year 11 Public Exams Summer 2021: Department for Education Information

You will be aware of the intense national debate about next year’s GCSE and BTEC exams.

On Monday 12 October the Department for Education confirmed that exams will go ahead next year. Most GCSE exams will be delayed by three weeks to give pupils more time to catch up on their learning.

The exams 2021 education blog published on 10 November provides further answers to the key questions being asked about exams 2021.

Sixth Form Consultation

Our consultation document on expanding 11-16 provision and opening a sixth form at Cambourne Village College is live on our website until Friday 11 December: https://www.cambournevc.org/ Please do respond with your views on whether this is something you would like to see in our town.

Wishing you all a good weekend; take care everyone.

Yours sincerely

Claire Coates Principal
