18th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

The message this evening is for parents and carers of pupils in Key Stage 3.

Key Stage 3 Remote Learning

As mentioned previously, we have been asked to provide five hours of learning for all pupils; we also wanted to be able to offer some further live sessions to our KS3 students to help them feel in touch and to give them opportunities to ask for support with their learning in real time.

It is with these two aims that we are now adapting our timetable with the following changes:

  • Music, Art and DT will provide 90 minutes of work – more akin to the usual model of doubles in these subjects, which allows time for instruction videos, research and making.
  • Live sessions are offered as below. All pupils are expected to attend the English and MFL sessions.  The History sessions on Friday are offered as a drop-in for any pupil who would like support with the History learning which has been delivered during the day and is optional.

Pupils will always see details of their day’s learning when they log into ShowMyHomework in the morning.  From next week, the MFL Vocab Booster sessions will take place on Mondays.

Year 7:

English Live Lesson:         Tuesdays: 9.30 to 10.30am

Spanish Vocab Booster:  Wednesdays, 1.30 to 2.00pm

History Live Q&A:             Fridays: 1.30 to 2.00pm

Year 8:

English Live Lesson:         Tuesday: 9.30 to 10.30am

Spanish Vocab Booster:  Wednesday: 1.30 to 2.00pm

History Live Q&A:             Friday: 2.00 to 2.30pm

Year 9:

English Live Lesson:         Tuesday: 9.30 to 10.30am

Spanish Vocab Booster:  Wednesday: 1.30 to 2.00pm

History Live Q&A:             Friday: 2.30 to 3.00pm

We understand that having adequate bandwidth can be a problem with holding live lessons at prescribed times; pupils should follow the lesson set on Teams if they cannot join the live lesson, and let their teacher know by email of there is a problem with accessing the session.

Yours sincerely

Emily Gildea
