Parent Bulletin: 26.03.2021

26th March 2021

This week's parent bulletin is available here:

Dear Parents and Carers

As we reach the end of term, thank you for supporting your children so well during remote learning, and for your support upon the return to school as we have enacted the required Covid measures. Despite everything, a lot of activity has taken place this term; please see our magazine, News@Cam for a round-up of an extraordinary term’s events.

Covid Cases Downward Trend - If you look further into the bulletin you will see a table taken from the Local Authority weekly data report, which shows an encouraging downward trend in overall Covid positive cases across the area. We very much hope that this continues and that the summer term will see a gradual return to more normal operating procedures.

Home Testing - Please do continue to test your children at home over the holiday, following the rigorous process carried out in school. Details of registration for this are on the next page and reminders about isolation of positive cases are given later in the bulletin: it is essential that quarantine measures are fully observed in order to continue to quell the virus. Financial support is available: Parents and carers of children who have been advised to self-isolate by their education setting or by NHS Test and Trace are now able to apply for a Test and Trace Support Payment or discretionary payment of £500, if they meet the eligibility criteria. Please also remember that you can apply for home testing kits for all members of your household - details can be found later in the bulletin.

Staffing - We are saying farewell to a number of staff members at the end of this term; we are grateful to them for all their hard work with us and wish them very well in their future careers: Mrs Bradford and Mrs Platten are leaving the English Department, and Mrs Hewitson is leaving her position of Pastoral Support Administrator with Year 10.  Mrs Jacques is leaving us after working for a number of years as TA and then Teacher of Maths, and Ms Durant is leaving her position of Centre Manager after being with us almost from the opening of the school. We will miss them all. At the same time, we are happy to welcome Mrs Hodgson, Mrs Loveridge and Mrs Tomlinson back from maternity leave.

School Uniform - As we come back in April to the summer term, we will phase out the wearing of PE hoodies in classrooms as the weather warms up. Please check that your children are in full uniform for the start of term, and please note that students’ nails should be of a natural length and not visible over the fingers when viewed from the palm-side of the hand. Long acrylic nail extensions must be trimmed back before the start of term as these present multiple health and safety concerns in PE and other practical lessons.

As we look forward to the first easing of Covid restrictions, and the allowed meeting of two households or groups of up to six people in private gardens from Monday, please remind your children to continue to observe required social distancing, to give us the best possible chance of the full ‘roadmap to freedom’ being enacted over the summer.

Wishing you all the best possible Easter break – take good care of yourselves,

Claire Coates
