Parent Bulletin 02.02.2024
2nd February 2024
This week's bulletin is available here.
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had another wonderful and busy week at Cambourne VC this week, including two GCSE art trips to London, two theatre trips, our Maths challenge on Wednesday 31st (we’re still waiting to hear the results) and of course the Year 9 Parent Consultation yesterday. I hope that having the opportunity to talk to your child’s teachers yesterday were encouraging and helpful. As a reminder, please do fill out the survey to provide feedback about the experience and to help us improve future parent consultations. The link to the form is here.
Next week we welcome students and teachers from Peru as part of a joint exchange between us and Comberton VC. Three of the Peruvian students will be staying with families from Cambourne and during the school day will buddy up with pupils in Year 10. Thank you for welcoming them into your homes and I hope it is an enjoyable experience for all involved. We will also be celebrating Lunar New Year in school next week with pupils having the opportunity to practice traditional calligraphy after school on Monday 5th and tasting traditional foods next Friday 9th.
My Child at School
If you haven’t signed up yet for My Child at School, please do as it is important that every parent and carer can access this platform, as all attendance, behaviour and timetable information can be accessed for each child. Staff have been working very hard behind the scenes and the issues with multiple accounts has been resolved (please refer to the school post that was sent out on Tuesday 30th January).
If you have already signed up for an account, you can now select each child by clicking on the dropdown menu below their photo. If you haven’t yet registered, it is a quick and easy process to do through a web browser or app. Go to mychildatschool.com, then select Sign up, enter 14932, and enter the email address you have registered with us.
If you do encounter any issues, then please contact CAM-Support@cambournevc.org for assistance.
Road Safety
Please do remind your children about road safety and respecting other road and pavement users. Reports of dangerous cycling has been reported to the College, particularly around the large junction around Broad Street and the High Street. Cambourne VC pupils have been seen racing across roads in front of cars, leading to near misses, as well as cycling fast and dangerously along pavements that are not designated cycle or joint cycle and footpaths. We want all pupils to be safe when travelling to and from school. If you would like to learn more information about educating your child, please see the Cambs County Council website here.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Lynn Mayes
