Parent Bulletin 08.10.2021

8th October 2021

This week's parent bulletin is available here:

Dear Parents and Carers

This Week. We were very pleased to be able to hold our Open Evening for Year 6 pupils on Wednesday evening. Although we had fewer of our own pupils on site than usual, their help was much appreciated by staff and visitors, and it was lovely to be able to showcase the work of the school again. Yesterday, all staff were involved in a very useful set of training – we hope the pupils used their day off as profitably!

Covid Vaccinations. These have been rescheduled for 12 November, for all pupils aged 12-16.     Please remember that the school is not involved in the organisation of this process: If you have any queries, please contact hct.csaiscambspb@nhs.net. Our school nurse is not authorised to discuss any aspect of this with parents.

Public Health England has issued new Covid guidance for schools. Due to the growing number of cases across Cambridgeshire schools, some control measures have been reintroduced and pupils are now required to wear a face-covering again in communal areas. Masks remain optional for pupils in classrooms. Please ensure that your child has a suitable face-covering to wear in school from Monday 11 October. This measure will remain in place for the rest of this half term.

Covid rates at CamVC remain high. Yesterday, we had 60 confirmed cases among pupils and 28 awaiting PCR test results. Year 7 has 31 confirmed cases, followed by 10 cases in Year 9 and 7 cases in Year 10. A number of teachers have also tested positive and we have an ongoing problem in procuring good supply staff; this is creating a lot of pressure on our school systems, so please bear with us if you experience any delays in communications.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO TEST YOUR CHILDREN AT HOME. Despite the high number of cases, home testing dropped from 57% the previous week to only 47% on Wednesday. We are very keen to avoid the imposition of further control measures – please support us by carrying out tests on Wednesdays and Sundays, and reporting the results.

Year 7 International Talent Evening Postponed. No further gatherings of parents at school are permitted this half term, under the resumed Covid measures. We will look for an opportunity to reschedule this hugely-enjoyable event as soon as we can.

I hope that you are all keeping well, and that you have an enjoyable weekend.

Yours sincerely

Claire Coates
