Parent Bulletin 10.12.2021

10th December 2021

This week's bulletin is available here

Dear Parents and Carers

I’m sorry still to be sending you messages relating to Covid, but as you might expect, the emergence of the new Omicron variant is having an impact on school operations and we have received new guidance from the Department for Education this week.  Please note:

  • Face Coverings must be worn by all pupils and staff in communal areas such as corridors and assembly halls. Since this is now Government guidance, please ensure that your child brings a reusable mask to school every day.   Face covering is not a requirement in classrooms but masks can be worn if preferred.
  • Visits between school staff and parents/carers should take place remotely i.e. on Teams etc. wherever possible. When a visit to school really needs to happen, it is strongly encouraged that the visitor does a LFD test before arriving on site.
  • Start of next term: you will receive a separate letter explaining details of a staggered start in January, to allow us to carry out a single lateral flow test on all pupils before they return to class.

All preventative measures taken in school can be seen on our updated risk assessment on the website.

Covid Rates and Testing

The figures below indicate students who are out of school with Covid-related illness and are isolating for 10 days.  These include positive confirmed cases, positive LFD awaiting PCR results and those who are symptomatic.  There is a total of 31 cases, which includes two teachers / support staff.

Please continue to test your children for Covid on Wednesdays and Sundays, and to report the results.  This is our main way of keeping levels of the virus in school under control.

Flu Vaccination Catch Up will take place on Tuesday 14 December for those students with consent who were missed in the last round.

Mock Exams

Year 11 are finishing the first week of their mock exams.  Thank you for your support with their preparation and revision.

Reports

Full reports for Years 8 and 9, and reports for Year 7 that show attitudes to learning will be published for you at the end of the week.

I hope that you all manage a very good weekend.

Yours sincerely

Claire Coates
