Parent Bulletin 18.09.2020

18th September 2020

Our new look parent bulletin is available to download here

Dear Parents and Carers

Please read the notices in the bulletin attached.

We have had an excellent second week back at school.  Our new Year 7 pupils are receiving glowing reports from their teachers and have adapted extremely well to their new ways of learning.  Routines are becoming established, pupils are conforming extremely well to the new safety requirements, and staff are adapting very positively to new ways of teachinginvolving significant use of iPads.

The separate year group ‘bubbles’ are working effectively. Key Stage 4 lessons are taking place in specialist rooms where needed, so that the Science Department are now able to run limited numbers of practicals again, under very strict safety protocols.  More practical work will be introduced for Years 10 and 11 in other departments as the term progresses.

Our 12 new staff members are likewise settling in well, and this week we have welcomed 11 trainee teachers from the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, and from our own teacher training consortium, the Cambridge Teaching Schools Network.

As we consolidate our new ways of working, we’re hoping to start to run some after-school clubs in the coming weeks:  watch this space!

Thank you for continuing to turn out your children in such smart uniform. There are always a few students who push these boundaries:   please note that facial piercings are not allowed and pupils wearing nose studs will be asked to remove them.  Fingernails must not extend beyond the end of the fingers when viewed from the palm, and pupils who have dyed their hair in unnatural colours over the summer must have it tied back until the colour is removed.

Wishing you all a very good weekend,

Claire Coates

Principal
