Parent Bulletin 25.03.2022

25th March 2022

This week's bulletin is available here

Dear Parents and Carers

I’m very glad to report that staff sickness levels have subsided and we have only one external supply teacher in school today.  I hope this will remain the case as we head towards the Easter break.

Please take a look at the Vacancies section within the bulletin and on our website, if you might be interested in a support staff role with us – we have a large number of vacancies available.  Please do get in touch if you would like an informal discussion of any of these.

There has been a lot of activity this week: Year 6 teachers from our primary schools visited to confirm arrangements for transition this summer, and Year 11 students have undertaken field work in Epping Forest.  On Tuesday, a team of five, enterprising Year 10s had the wonderful experience of going to the Design Museum in London to present their pitch for the Design Ventura annual design challenge, as one of only ten shortlisted teams from a field of 400 across the country. They represented the school brilliantly and are invited back to the results event in late April.

The initiative of our pupils was again on display last night, with the launch of the Cultural Art Gallery. This was a wonderful event, organised by the Taking Up Space pupil group to celebrate the cultural diversity of our school and community.  It was great to enjoy such huge support from pupils, families and staff, many in brightly coloured dress, as we were treated to music from our jazz band, poetry, traditional Indian dance, an art display and fantastic food.  The throng of pupils spontaneously dancing created a real party atmosphere that hasn’t been felt at school for such a long time. Thank you to everyone who came and who supported the pupils in arranging this – it was definitely a night to remember.

We have only one week left of what has felt a very hard-worked term, and have our school concert to look forward to on Tuesday, at 7.30pm.  Please see the bulletin for details of this celebration of musical talent and for further opportunities available to pupils over the coming weeks.

Yours sincerely,

Claire Coates
