Parent Bulletin 25.10.2024

25th October 2024

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

What a wonderful and busy first half term we’ve had. This week we rounded off the half term with all pupils being off timetable for two days as part of our curriculum extension days and we hope that your children enjoyed this experience of learning outside the normal classroom routine as the staff enjoyed delivering these days. On Wednesday, Cambourne Sixth Form was also on the map as we hosted a Curriculum Assessment Review on behalf of the Department of Education. There were over 120 delegates attending from across the East of England and we also had a pupil panel talking to the people who oversee the curriculum in England and Wales, which would have been a wonderful opportunity for them to give their views of their learning and I would like to thank them all for taking their time out of the day to attend this.

Today, the first Year 12 attitudinal reports are out and so parents can receive their first feedback about how well our new Year 12s have started the year.

As soon as we get back after half term, the Year 11s will have two weeks of mock exams, starting with English Language on Monday morning. This is really important for them to prepare for their GCSE exams in the summer, and as ever we would appreciate your support in ensuring that they have all the correct equipment for the exam that day.

Also, as of Monday 4th of November, please can all parents and carers be aware of the following changes to the end of the school day. Pupils will be told about the changes when they return following the half term break.

  • All pupils to be off site by 3.15pm unless they are in a club, at the library or in a twilight class
  • Staff will escort their afterschool clubs or afterschool classes off-site through the main reception or West Cambourne entrance at the end of the sessions.
  • All community groups will now enter through the main reception only and not the side gates.

Finally, I would like to wish Miss Bingham, our head of PE, the best of luck as she jets off to New Zealand after half term to be part of the England team and take part in the Hockey Masters World Cup – we’re all rooting for you here in Cambourne!

Wishing everyone a wonderful half term break and Happy Diwali if you celebrate that too.

Lynn Mayes

Principal
