Update 02.04.2020

2nd April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

One more day of home-learning before the Easter break – well done, everyone! - and some notices for you:

Year 11 - Public Exam Grade Process

We now expect OFQUAL to deliver its instructions tomorrow on how results for this year’s public exams will be calculated.  This means that staff will need to digest this over the Easter break before we communicate with you on this.   I’m sorry for the delay; clearly OFQUAL will have had a lot to consider before publishing this guidance and as a school, we will need to look at this very carefully.

Easter School for Children of Critical Workers and for Vulnerable Children

I’m hugely grateful to those members of the teaching and support staff who are working through the holiday so that our critical workers can carry out their essential roles – and indeed, to those who have kept the school open for this purpose for the past two weeks.

Children should attend between 9.00 and 3.00pm.  Please note: our cafeteria service will close after tomorrow.  We will not be able to provide food so please send children with a packed lunch.

If any parent needs to make a change to their requested arrangements during the holiday, please let us know as early as possible by emailing ccoates@cambournevc.org

Home Learning

Thank you for all your messages of support; it’s always great to hear that the children are doing well.      720 pupils replied to our Pupil Survey and it will take a while to read all their responses (Happy Easter, Miss Boyns…)  but their comments are all being considered and we will communicate some timetabling changes to you in good time for next term.

Cancelled Trips Refund Notice: message from Mrs Noble

We are currently working with our insurer and service providers to complete claim forms and will be in touch with relevant families as soon as we are able to issue refunds. WisePay is also currently experiencing technical issues and some of the refunds we have already issued have not reached some parents and carers. Could we please ask that you bear with us whilst this is being sorted and please rest assured that we are in constant communication with the relevant parties to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you.

Safeguarding

A new Safeguarding page has been added to our COVID-19 webpage.  A school-closure addendum to our Safeguarding Policy has been created and can be read on  https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/safeguarding.  Today the pupils were sent additional reminders on how to keep themselves safe on-line - also on the link above. Please take the time to read this and to discuss with your children.  The advice has never been more important.  Many thanks to our Safeguarding team who are working flat-out at present.

Do open your front doors and clap your support for those working in the NHS and all those supporting the fight against the coronavirus at 8pm tonight.   Teachers and school workers are also nominated for a shout-out this time – let’s hear Cambourne ring!

All good wishes, everyone. Take good care,

Claire Coates

Principal
