Update 03.07.2020

3rd July 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

A number of updates for you this evening:

September Arrangements:  We are working our way through the Government guidance on the reopening of schools in September and considering the best ways that the requirements can be met in our setting.  We will communicate with you further on this towards the end of next week.  In the meantime, the Department for Education guide to What Parents and Carers  Need to Know about Schools in the Autumn Term  can be found here

Summer Concert:  A message from Geoff Page and Ben Mulholland

Thursday 9th July is our virtual Music Department Summer Concert, and our virtual Summer Production: Rapunzel the Musical!!  Please see the attached poster.

The concert will include pieces from the concert band and jazz band, and the winning performances from the Song-writing & Instrumental Composition competitions.

The second half of the evening is the world premiere production of Rapunzel the Musical! featuring a 50+ strong cast of pupils and staff!

A link will be sent out, which will go ‘live’ at 7pm on Thursday 9th July, but it will be available to watch via the school website after the initial launch evening! Please encourage many family members and friends to watch it!

Many, many thanks to everyone who has been involved, and has sent in recordings to be part of the concert.

Virtual Sports Days     We would normally be having Sports Days week at this time in the term, with a dedicated Sports Day for each of Years 7, 8 and 9. As this can’t happen in school, we will be going “virtual” and each tutor group will be competing against the others to be crowned Champions of Sports Day. All the information for the different challenges will be on Show My Home every day next week and it would be great if you could encourage your son / daughter to be as active as possible.  Every entry will gain points for their tutor group so just by giving the challenges a go, they are already supporting their team to hopefully becoming Champions!

Years 9 & 10:  After School GCSE Classes.  These will continue next term as planned; further information will follow.  Please note that the deadline for the next instalment of afterschool GCSE subjects is on Monday; this is the first instalment for current Year 9 and 3rd instalment for current Year 10.  Please could any outstanding payments be made via Wisepay.

Year 10 – Post 16 Planning   Please see the attached letter from Oakes College, Cambridge, advertising their Post 16 provision and virtual iOakes Open Day.

And finally – it’s Friday ‘Shout-Out’ time!  Here’s the link to some of the inspirational work done by your children this week: https://www.facebook.com/CambourneVC/

Have a lovely weekend, everyone, and take care,

Claire Coates

Principal
