Update 06.05.2020

6th May 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Some updates for you today:

Key Worker School – Friday 8 May

At present, no child is registered as needing a place at school for this Friday bank holiday.  If you are a key worker and suddenly need a place due to a change in your shifts etc, please email thecollege@cambournevc.org as soon as possible, and no later than 7pm tomorrow, Thursday 7 May so that staffing can be arranged.

Year 8 – iPads for Learning Scheme

Please see the School Post message sent earlier today about the proposed roll-out of iPads for Year 8 pupils under the new COVID-19 situation.

Remote Learning:  If your child is stuck on a piece of work

Staff are keen to support any pupil having difficulty with a particular piece of work but it may be some time before they are able to respond to emails, due to teachers’ individual home circumstances and the high concentration of requests that can follow timetabled lesson slots for each year group.  Pupils today have all been sent the attached sheet suggesting the process they should follow to try to resolve their problem independently, before contacting their teacher.

A message from the PE Department - Sports Activators

If your son or daughter is in Year 7 or 8, loves sport, and wants to be more involved in the PE department and school sport, both during lockdown and when we return, please encourage them to apply to become a Sports Activator.

All the information can be found on the noticeboard of ShowMyHomeWork today and is a great opportunity for any sporty Year 7 or 8 pupil, or anyone who wants to get more involved in school sport and leadership.

Sports Leaders

For students in Year 9, the PE department are now accepting applications from those who are interested in becoming Sports Leaders. On the SMHW noticeboard, for today, there is more information including a letter, an introductory PowerPoint and the application form.

Any queries, please do contact Miss Curtis:  hcurtis@cambournevc.org

Interesting Reading

Our librarian, Mrs Payne, regularly shares interesting extension-reading with pupils in the form of articles.  Today she has shared this one about astronomy apps and the super-moon we should be able to see tomorrow night:

Have a good evening, everyone, and take care of yourselves,
