Update 18.06.2020

18th June 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Live lessons on Microsoft Teams

Staff are working hard to teach more live lessons. Please read the attached letter carefully and discuss this way of working with your child, so that when an invitation to a live lesson is issued, these sessions can be as productive as possible for everyone.

PE and Numeracy Tasks – Daily Activities

Please note that we are now publishing PE and Numeracy tasks each morning on Show My Homework, along with the day’s lessons, instead of via the Head of Year pupil bulletin as we have been doing up until now. This is so that all the learning for each day is in one place for the students.

Race Across the World - Hannah Curtis,  Head of PE

We have had a slight dip in entries from last night and today – mainly due to all the rain we have had. But the sun is now shining (or it was when I wrote this!) so why not hop on a bike and get lots of kilometres logged for the day: even better, why not take your family and double, triple or quadruple the kilometres. Everything counts!

Thank you to all those who are braving the elements to get out and about, are staying active and logging your distances.

Here is the link again if you need it - please note the link will only work via a Trust email log-in:

Live Lessons

Dear Parents/Carer,

As our distant learning curriculum starts to develop, we would like to run some live sessions for students using Microsoft Teams. Over the recent months, we have developed our systems and protocols to allow this to happen safely. We recognise that not all students will be able to access these lessons and our teachers will, where appropriate, make a recording of the session available to students. It is not compulsory that students take part in live video lessons. However, if you would like your child to be involved in these lessons, please do take some time to read through the following guidance to ensure these lessons can be conducted appropriately.

Live sessions should only take place during the school day. If lessons are to take place at any other time, we will contact you directly to make these arrangements.
Live sessions will take place using Microsoft Teams. These sessions will either a webinar or small group meeting. Your child should only use their school account to sign into these sessions.  Students should never use their personal accounts or try and communicate with staff using social media.
Please ensure your child does not record the lesson or share screen shots or images after the lesson has finished.
The teacher delivering the sessions will not need to see the video stream from your child.  During the lesson, the child's camera should remain off.
If your child is going to use their camera, they need to be appropriately dressed in daytime wear and within a communal space in their home (not a bedroom).
Your child should only attend online teaching sessions to which they’ve been directly invited by a member of staff.
If attending an online teaching session, your child must behave appropriately and respect the teacher and other students who may be attending.
