Update 23.04.2020

23rd April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Apologies if you were affected by the IT downtime this afternoon.  All systems are now working normally again.

Year 11 Centre Assessed Grades

A great deal of work has been taking place this week, along with our partner schools across the Cam Academy Trust, to put in place a robust and fair system to be able to submit grades for pupils’ GCSE, BTec and other qualification to the exam boards.  It has been made very clear by OFQUAL that schools are not to discuss any of this process with students and parents.  I would like to reassure you, however, that we are confident that we now have a very thorough system in place that will allow us to come to very considered recommendations for each students’ outcomes.

Music

The Music Department will be providing a range of opportunities for pupils to join remote music-making activities over the next weeks.  For those of you with a keyboard at home, Geoff Page, our Head of Music, has created a website for those who:

  1. Would like to teach themselves the piano (during lockdown – or as a longer term ambition…)
  2. Wants some help teaching their children piano
  3. Is a piano teacher or music teacher, and is looking for some free resources to use

The website is a collection (to be expanding) of popular classical tunes, arranged for piano. For each piece, there are four different versions (Levels 1 – 4), and you can download the sheet music, and watch YouTube tutorials lasting between 10-20 minutes.  Everything on the website is completely free including the sheets to download, and the tutorials.  Geoff would welcome your feedback.
