Work for Year 11 pupils

29th April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers of Year 11 students

Pupils should still be prioritising any remaining course content being set by teachers. This is not in order to change their grades or rank, but so that they are in a strong position for starting their next courses, or if they choose next year to sit an exam in that subject. So, this is still their primary focus if it applies to them.

However, as this work draws to a close, pupils can begin working towards their next courses. We are providing links to the resources provided by many of the colleges and sixth forms as well as to other platforms that might be helpful and interesting – links are below and on our website.

In addition, we will look to support students with this work as much as we can. Many teachers have offered to mentor groups of students studying their subjects next year. These teachers will be setting work via Show My Homework, with, wherever possible, opportunities for feedback and guidance. We hope that our students will find this contact helpful and reassuring. The work will either link directly with what has been set by the sixth forms and colleges, or be more generally useful for students going on to further study in the subject.

Year 11 students should therefore keep an eye on Show My Homework and school email over the coming weeks.

There will also be work available for students who may need to “re-sit” their English Language and/or Maths GCSE to obtain a Grade 4. It will help them enormously if they keep working on and revising these subjects so that they’re in a good position to do this next year, if they need to. Other pupils may choose to do so – as they may do in any subject – and so work targeting different grades will also be available.

Thank you for understanding that we don’t have subject specialists available in every area, in particular for more vocational subjects. We will do our best to direct pupils to useful resources for those courses.

We are all thinking very much of our Year 11 students, whom we really miss. Our best wishes to them, and to you all.

Emily Moody

Deputy Principal
