Year Group Home Study Days

17th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers:

Year Group Home Study Days

You are aware that we have severe staff shortages this week. We have carefully mapped how best to manage teaching provision for your children according to their daily timetables and staff availability, while maintaining essential standards of health and safety in school. The following arrangements for study at home will apply:

Wednesday 18th: Year 10 home study all day

Thursday 19th: Year 7 home study all day

Friday 20th: Year 8 home study all day

Friday 20th: Year 11 home study periods 1-4. Pupils expected in class from 1.20pm

We are aware that this arrangement may create difficulties for some families; please let us know if your child is not able to access work due to lack of internet and/or computer access, or if this arrangement is particularly problematic for you. Ample work will be set on ShowMyHomeWork and pupils on home study are expected to be in their own homes working independently. Pupils with Special Educational Needs will have individualised booklets of differentiated and accessible work provided for them to take home, by the Centre. Please ensure that your child understands that he/she should not be seen out in the community during school hours.

Pupils on home study who have Free School Meals are welcome to eat with us in the Dining Hall at lunchtime and should sign in and out at Reception.

If your child is in self-isolation, they will soon be finding ample work on ShowMyHomeWork; please bear with us on this.

Thank you for your understanding as we work our way through this difficult and ever-changing situation. We’re doing our best to provide the best possible learning experiences for all the pupils. Please bear in mind that the Centre has been particularly affected by staff absence and it is not currently possible to sustain usual levels of individualised support from Teaching Assistants.

Yours sincerely
