Parent Bulletin: 05.03.2021

5th March 2021

This week's parent bulletin is available here:

Dear Parents and Carers

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your children back to school in their phased return from Monday; please check your emails from earlier this week if you are unsure as to when your child should report for testing and return to lessons.

Covid-19 Protective Measures

All our protective measures have been reviewed and our risk assessments updated:

COVID-19 - Cambourne Village College (cambournevc.org) Previous measures stay in place, with the addition of rapid-Covid-testing for all staff and pupils, and the very strong recommendation that students should wear face-coverings - preferably 3-ply - at all times indoors. We are very grateful to the 60+ volunteers who will be helping with administrative elements of the testing programme over the next two weeks.

Running school under this regime is challenging. In addition, a number of teaching and support staff are shielding until 31 March and our ability to cover further teacher absences will be limited. Please discuss with your children the importance of excellent behaviour and observance of all protective measures upon their return. Your support with this will be invaluable in keeping school open, especially since Cambourne was recording relatively high infection rates compared to our region prior to lockdown.

Consent for Testing

We have now received consent for more than 80% of our pupils to be tested for Covid-19 at school.  This is a vital extra measure in keeping school safe. If you have not yet returned your consent form, sent by School Post earlier this week, please do so urgently.

Rapid Testing Devices for Parents and Families

Please see the information provided on this link to obtain a Supply of tests to use on family members at home.

Free School Meals

Free school meal vouchers will be provided to registered families for the first three days of next week. If your child is in school on Tuesday or Wednesday, please provide a packed lunch or put money onto your child’s Parent Pay account so that they can purchase a meal from the cafeteria. From Wednesday, a free school lunch will be provided in the cafeteria as per normal.

Thanks to Pupils from Cam-Support

As we return from hopefully the last school-closure, Mrs Noble would like to thank all the pupils who have accessed help with IT issues, for their patience and politeness - this has made the work of the team much easier.

I will be among the staff shielding for the rest of term. Ms Gildea and Miss Boyns will lead school operations very capably while I continue to work from home.

With all good wishes and please take very good care of yourselves,

Claire Coates
