Parent Bulletin: 11.06.2021

11th June 2021

This week's parent bulletin is available here:

Dear Parents and Carers

Year 7 Parents Consultation

Thank you to everyone who attended the Year 7 Parent Consultation yesterday. Whilst it’s a shame not to have met you all in person, we’ve received many positive comments on how easy and accessible the on-line arrangements were. We’ll be reviewing how we hold these events going forward, and will ask for your views in due course.

End of Year Reports

A full academic progress report will be provided for students in all year groups at the end of term.

Hot weather warning

Our school nurse, Mrs Barker, has reported numbers of pupils reporting to her with bad hay fever this week. Please ensure that your child has been medicated before coming to school, and brings medication with them if necessary to keep them comfortable for the next weeks which are forecast to be very warm and with a high pollen count. Please would all parent ensure that their children have water bottles to help keep them hydrated as the temperatures rise?

Covid Testing

The Local Authority has informed us that cases of coronavirus are on the rise in schools in the area.  Please continue to test your child(ren) every Wednesday and Sunday, and to record the results. We have only had a 58% return for pupil testing this week, which is a distinct drop from the pre-holiday levels. Please be vigilant for any symptoms of the disease, which may include headache and sore throat, and test if anyone in your household has symptoms.

Holiday Activity and Food Programme Reminder

Children who receive a benefits-related free school meal are eligible for up to 64 hours of funded holiday club provision over the summer holidays. Details are in this letter  from the Local Authority. Should you have any questions, please contact the programme team using HAF@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

Vacancies

We are fully staffed with teachers for next term, but have a number of support staff vacancies, including a number of Teaching Assistant and administrative roles.  Please see our website for details: Vacancies - Cambourne Village College (cambournevc.org) and circulate to anyone who might be interested.

School Expansion

Plans for school expansion are progressing well. If you have not yet looked at the plans or the consultation document, please see our website for information: Public Consultation May 2021 - Cambourne Village College (cambournevc.org)

National Schools Healthy Eating Week

Please read this letter from Mrs Taylor giving information about this initiative.

Wishing you a very pleasant, sunny weekend!

Yours sincerely

Claire Coates
