Parent Bulletin 17.12.2021

17th December 2021

This week's parent bulletin is available to download here

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for your support this term, and especially thanks to those of you who have sent messages this week, thanking staff for their efforts – these are always very much appreciated.

Christmas Appeal

Many parents have generously supported our fund-raising appeal to give a little boost to our free school meals families, over the Christmas break. Thank you very much for this!  If anyone else would like to contribute to this appeal, please do so via your ParentPay account over the weekend.  The appeal will close on Monday morning.

Christmas Concert

We’re disappointed not to be able to host a school concert at the end of this term.  However, our fantastic Music Department and our super-talented pupils have recorded a concert for us, which can be heard on this link. Many thanks to all performers, and enjoy!

Staffing

Today, we’re sad to say goodbye to Ms Ferreira, our Head of Year 10 and teacher of Geography, and wish her well in her new life with her family.   We’ve been very fortunate to appoint in her place, Ms Rose, another experienced Head of Year and teacher of Geography, who will start in January. Mrs Crossley, who has been with us for one term in the Modern Foreign Languages department is leaving us, to be replaced by Mr Martinez-Correal.  We therefore continue to be fully staffed with teachers for the spring term.  Two of our valued Teaching Assistant team, Mrs Herring and Mrs Lloyd are also leaving us, and we have TA vacancies advertised on our website; please do pass this on to anyone you know who may be interested in a very rewarding career.  We’re grateful to all these staff for their hard work with us.

News@Cam

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic restrictions this term, a bumper edition of News@Cam is available on the website here.  Pupils have been engaged in a phenomenal number of activities, clubs and events and I’m grateful to all the staff who make this possible, on top of their normally demanding roles.

The remainder of the bulletin contains a lot more information about competitions, clubs and events that your child may enjoy – (and information about science tests for Years 9 and 10, which they may not!)  - Please do take a look.

Covid 19

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem possible to write a bulletin without mentioning Covid … Our number of positive cases has remained relatively stable this week, despite the national surge in numbers.   We have a total of 32 cases, spread fairly evenly over the year groups, which includes seven teachers and support staff.  We very much hope this will remain static over the break. You have been sent separate notification of the staggered start for year groups in January to allow for testing.  This information is also attached with this bulletin and available on our website here. Face coverings will undoubtedly be required, so please provide your child with a set of reusable masks – named – so that we can reduce the waste and expense of issuing disposable ones.

We wish you a peaceful, healthy and happy Christmas break, and look forward to seeing the pupils back, rested and refreshed, in January.

Yours sincerely

Claire Coates
