Update 08.07.2020

8th July 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope that your weeks have been going well and that Year 10 students are managing to complete their test papers under these unusual circumstances.  We are moving forward with plans to reopen school in September for all year groups and will share details and full risk assessments with you as soon as possible – there is a lot to think about!  There are a number of updates for you today:

School Uniform:  In response to a number of enquiries, please note the following:

In order to have an orderly return, all pupils should be in full school uniform, including their ID badges, from the first morning.  Please see the our uniform page for a reminder of school uniform requirements.
Uniform can be ordered from our usual stockists: everyday wear from Essential Schoolwear, PE kit from SWI, and Drama and Dance items from Total Clothing.  Their details and purchasing information are on our website: https://www.cambournevc.org/parent-carer-and-student-information/uniform .  I’m sure you will understand that it’s not possible to try on and purchase uniform at school, this summer.
We have commissioned a further supplier, Total Clothing, so that you have a choice of outlets from which to purchase the school branded items:  polo shirt; sweatshirt; trousers and skirt.  Unfortunately, Total Clothing will not be able to supply us until October, due to some COVID-related production issues.  We have therefore put back our requirement that pupils are in branded trousers and skirts until 5 January 2021.  Please note, however, that trousers and skirts worn next term must be in the traditional school uniform styles available from Essential Schoolwear, whether or not the branding is in place.
Students in the next Year 11 may purchase a black sweatshirt to replace their previous grey one.  Prefects are invited to wear a slightly different polo and sweatshirt.  Parents and carers of current Year 10 students may wish to wait until prefect appointments are announced next week before ordering polo or sweatshirts.

A decline in pupils’ mental health under lockdown is widely documented across the country.  In order for us to be able to gauge the extent to which this may have affected our own pupils, they have been asked to complete a questionnaire by their Heads of Year.  Please encourage your child to complete this by the end of school on Friday if they have not already done so; the survey is on this link:  https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=1u3qfje_FUCP6Rn7wsAtVTwHzc9GhW5OibbekpEhDApUQlpKUFJIMFlOV1Y5TjI4TE4yVE5XM1E3OS4u

Visits to school for book return and collection of personal items:

Miss Boyns will be writing to you to explain thisprocess next week.  Pupils in Years 7 - 10 will be allotted a time to collect items from lockers and from lost property. Year 11 students will be invited to return all library books, and text books for Modern Foreign Languages, DT and History.  When these are accounted for, the students will be able to collect their ‘Leavers’ hoodies and Year Books.

History Competition:

Miss Angell has asked parents to remind their children to submit their essay entries for the Young Historians Award.  The deadline has been extended until Wednesday 15 July.

Take care of yourselves, and all good wishes,

Claire Coates

Principal
